Delighted to open up a space for my gifted friends, the lovely people I’ve met over the years through the podcast, and those who have a true passion for music and expressing this naturally through the art of DJing.

Summer Is Calling - Cam

Meet Cam, he’s another kind ninja like me, he’s balanced, calm and fades into the background and listens, creates peace in his environment naturally but when it’s time to strike, you’d better put your seatbelt on. We have a great friendship from decades ago. He’s highly intelligent, thoughtful, empathetic, and doesn’t just do a mix, he draws deep from within, his life, nature, emotions and expresses seamlessly, someone who doesn’t need to shout, he lets the music do the talking. Any event organiser, agency or radio station would be lucky if he chose them. He has his life sorted with a beautiful family, invented things that have gone to space, he is made from music, so tune in, dance out as Cam rockets you into hyperspace.

Cam says “I haven't used any key detection tools on this mix, come to think of it... I've never used them. Might be time to learn! I do love the Traktor for mixing and being able to loop on the fly, perhaps saving a mix from going bad or having a track running out. Also great, are the additions of effects on the system... Just a great Djing tool. I lost love of mixing when CD's took over but was blown away when i got to try my hands on the S4 mk1. For me it changed how you could mix, expanding the possibilities at your fingertips.

Now normally I just play around on my own, no crowd pleasing anymore. But should I wish to place a mix on my Mixcloud it has to be clean, still today I find it annoying when a small error occurs and will probably start again. Is it because I am scared others will dislike it or slate it? Maybe so! Many people will hear things like they ain't good enough, don't give up the day job etc etc... I think about my top movie list for example, down and outs overcoming adversity to win in the end. Rocky, Shawshank, The Blindside, you get the drift... Maybe it’s me... I didn't have too much hope early in life but one thing I never did was give up and in my eyes I have done ok. I've got to see the world, met many great people and have a wonderful wife and children. I've always accepted the opportunities! My advice, say 'yes ok' and do it.

So this mix is for my good old friend Tim Angrave and I didn't wanna miss the opportunity. It’s been wonderful to see Tim doing well and I'm amazed by his strength and fight to keep going, and in awe what he has achieved. So I've been inspired and I hope this mix says that.

It is slightly dark, moody, progressive house to start with, going to a lighter side. A metaphor for as I see life! Never give up, keep on going, hold your head up high and just hold on.
